Glass workshop Ūta was established in 2007. This is one person's – Daiva Jusiūtė-Tarailienė's - project, which encompasses two directions: revival of production of the ancient Baltic glass traditions and the plastic of modern glass. The main technique is lampwork, when the glass is heated on torch, the beads or figurines are formed and miniature bottles are blown. During the summer festivals in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland various experiments are carried out on glass in outdoor furnace or fireplace. In order to make the replicas of archaeological findings more precise and scientific, collections of museums, glass findings, shades of colors and many other details are studied. Replicas of archaeological findings made at this glass workshop was certificated as Lithuanian National Heritage in 2011. Exhibitions: - 2010, „kažKADA kalvystė/stiklas“ (gallery "Arentum" of Vilnius Academy, Vilnius), collection of replicas of Baltic glass jewelry was presented. - 2013, „Vetus mundi“ (Art Center of Baltic Amber, Šv. Mykolas str. 12, Vilnius) reconstructions of different types of earrings and some necklaces worn in the times of Grand Duchy were presented. Part of them is the exact replicas, others - free interpretations. - 2013, personal glass and photography exhibition „Baltijos inkliuzai“ (Art Center of Baltic, st. Mykolas str. 12, Vilnius), bead necklaces and photos were created according to the theme of sea ecology. The aim of exhibition – draw society's attention to the ecological situation of Baltic sea. |
